Manchester United has been dealt an injury blow with the news that left-back Luke Shaw will be out for six weeks.

The Englishman was withdrawn in the 67th minute in United’s weekend clash against Everton with Axel Tuanzebe coming on in his place.

The Athletic now reports that the player will be out for a longer time after scans done on Tuesday; this being a blow for United with Shaw having been one of the consistent players for the team this season.

The 25-year-old had played every minute of United’s seven games since the last international break and registered two assists in his last two games, including the wonderful cross that was tucked in by Bruno Fernandes for United’s equalizer; a game they were to go and win 3-1.

According to the club in a statement, the injury means meaning he could miss upcoming Premier League games against West Brom, Southampton and West Ham, as well as Champions League clashes with Istanbul Basaksehir, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.

In the player’s absence, summer signing Alex Telles who has returned to first-team training with the team after recovering from Covid-19 is expected to slot in the position; the other option being Brandon Willians.
